Getting Ready For the Adventure
We arrived at the park around 12:30, and started getting our kayaks ready for the big trip.  Rons kayak is the blue one, Pam liked the green one,  and I chose to go with the grey one ("granite") in the background.

Aras and Pam Enjoying the River
A neat thing about this trip was that it took place while spring was starting to show.  Many of the trees were showing green buds, while the willows in the water accented the river with their bright green color.  It felt great just to be outside on a day like this.

Aras Investingating a Tree Trunk
A huge tree trunk drifted alongside us in the river for several hours.  I paddled over  to investigate it.  Although it bounced off the shore a few times, it kept going until it got caught up on a sandbar downstream.

Pam Enjoying the Experience
Pam really enjoyed her first kayaking experience on the river.  We popped off onto a small sidestream to enjoy the greenery.  Within the willows we saw a lot of small trees which had been cut down by beavers.  Pretty neat stuff.

Ron (The Great Explorer)
Ron was convinced that a great lake lay beyond these reeds.  Since we could  not paddle through them, we had little choice but to pull ourselves through the narrowest opening.  It took a while to find a spot which allowed us to sneak through.  As it turned out, this stream was not the correct one.  It was fun, though, seeing where we could get our boats to go.

Pam Looking for Whitewater
Pam figured out this kayaking stuff pretty quickly.  Here she looks ready to tackle some serious white water!

Magazine Ad?
The late afternoon light was incredible.  This should be in a magazine ad  for Old Town Kayaks.

Ron Looking Very Relaxed
This is near the end of the trip.  We pulled the kayaks out 100m past the bridge.  What a great day!

What are We Going to Do?
There was some confusion as to who had the keys to the car.  I still claim innocence as to any mistakes on my part.  I suspect Pam is thinking something along the lines of: "I can't believe he forgot the keys!"  Fortunately I had my cell phone with us, and was able to call for some help.
